31 December 2009 - Ottawa - PAFSO was deeply saddened to learn that one of our DFAIT colleagues was injured
The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) was deeply saddened to learn that one of our DFAIT colleagues was injured by a roadside bomb yesterday in Kandahar, Afghanistan. This attack on a military convoy also killed four Canadian soldiers and a journalist, and wounded a number of others.
This situation, like the 2006 death of former Foreign Service Officer Glyn Berry, highlights the risks faced by our members as they work alongside the military and other organizations in extremely dangerous environments such as Afghanistan.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleague at this time. We offer our sincere condolences to all those who have been touched by this tragedy.
